WPCentral Question

My video app for Windows Phone 8.1 takes up 1.7 GB, I do not currently have any TV shows or movies downloaded, is this really the size of this app? If not how can I clear up some of the space that the app is taking up?
I am using a Nokia Lumia 1520 running 8.1 developer's preview with Cyan.
Thank you for any assistance provided.

Whoa! Could you possibly post a screen shot of that? I'd like to see that. My apologies for not offering help it's just, I'm not entirely sure what anyone can do I mean you have no videos... That's odd. Have you tried clearing temp data? Also what do you have your storage sense settings for videos?

The video App on mine only uses 40mb (ish) if I check through storage sense.

I did notice last week that my metro tube app took up 1.7gb even though I had cleared all my pre loaded videos. A reinstall seemed to resolve it.

There doesn't appear to be a way to clear cache or delete the app, am I really going to have to factory reset my phone to fix this?
My phone is set to save to SD card for everything.
Thanks again for any help.

Well the reason I said to try and clear temporary files was because I noticed that when I clear the temporary data the size of the system folder goes down by a few hundred Mb as well so that's the reason I said to try that. By clearing temp files I mean: Storage sense > phone > (scroll down) temporary files > delete. You should also do that for your SD card. It doesn't hurt to try it.

Just tried clearing temporary files, no change. There are no pictures or videos stored at all on the phone, I tend to move them to my PC and then delete them from the phone to save space. Just to be sure I double checked and there are no videos stored on the phone. I believe the cause of the issue is I started to download a movie and then when it was almost complete I deleted it. I think the partial file is now stuck in the app's cache. There does not appear to be a way to clear this from the phone or PC, as I cannot access the app's storage even when connected to my PC. The video folders on both the phone memory and SD card memory are empty.
So as a warning to others, do not interrupt a partial download, let it finish and then delete.

Hmm... Try downloading the movie entirely then delete it. It might use the stored data as a reference, download missing data, then present you with the compete file when it's done... I'm not sure if that would save you a bit more time and effort than a full reset. It's worth a shot I would think.

Just tried downloading the movie and the deleting, I noticed that the app does first download to phone memory and then move it to the SD card, as the app jumped to almost 4GB for a little while, it then went down to 1.7 again and the movie was then on the SD card. I was able to delete the newly downloaded copy, but the app still sits at 1.7 GB.

Connect your phone to a computer and check with explorer all the directory's of your phone and SD card. Maybe you find a big file.
On windows phone you can not see a file which has an extension which is not supported by windows phone but with windows explorer you can see them.
