Why won't windows recognize my phone?

I have Windows 8.1 N and I can not get it to recognize my Android phone when it is plugged into USB even when my phone is charging.

You probably need to install the USB drivers. Is it a Samsung?

Make sure your phone is unlocked if you have secured it through a password. Might work.

Give them some more info to go on... What phone? What OS version? Any custom ROMs? Did it connect before and now has stopped?
