VBA8 Import Pokemon Emerald saved games from VisualBoyAdvance-M

Hello,

I've created a new save with Pokemon Emerald on VBA8 and used it without problems with VBA-M. But when I tried to import it back to VBA8, any progress made on VBA-M is simply missing. Note that I am using 128KB .sav files.
Any ideas on what's causing this and more importantly how to solve it?

have you save your progress in VBA-M using the in-game save function?
