Windows Central Question

OneDrive Classic Paintings Nude

Hello, I'm a 3D artist and I'm starting to use Microsoft OneDrive, but I'm a little bit worried about the TOS regarding nudity.

What about if I store for example a Ruben's painting that depicts female breasts? And what will happen if I take that painting, recreate a 3D image, render it and store it in the cloud? Or what about Michelangelo's David? My main concern is that if creating artistic images that may depict human nudity will result in getting my account banned (right now I'm sketching a nude ogre and I'm worried about what could happen if I upload it).

Thank you very much!

Thank you very much!

Seems they take a hard line on this...

"Inappropriate" photos? - Microsoft Community

But just what triggers enforcement I can not say.

I do know that no Microsoft Rep will wave any part of the TOS.

Try a third party service like BOX that you can access from your phone. Be sure to turn off OneDrive auto backup in Camera and patrol your OneDrive to delete anything that might have slipped through.

<edit> BOX frequently has bounties where logging in via app on a certain device gives a lifetime bonus of 50GB free storage. I earned one long ago with an HP TouchPad and it is still in effect. I also could have earned it with a Nexus 4 I had. Sadly, these bonuses are not cumulative. box device storage bonus - Bing

My question Is? who's going to be looking?, and how many file do they have to see before they find your one photo? unless they have a thousand people being paid to look at photos going to the cloud, just to see who naughty or nice, I don't see the problem unless you shear , and some one complains.

These things are usually found via hotlinking. They see where traffic from to your OneDrive is coming from.

So if "HotNudeGalz" is always hitting your storage that would trigger a look.

These kinds of TOS are intentionally vague. Would be dependant on the person investigating the account ...

Protip: Use Gmask before uploading!

Protip2: Use 7zip to create a password protected archive.

I remember some AMA where the OneDrive team stated the sort of thing wasn't an issue as long as it wasn't publicly shared.

l believe they'd be chill, but better to be cautious
I think thats something worth a test

They have that right... But it is an algorithm or series of algorithms doing the initial sniffing. Human eyeballs would come into play if any flags are raised.

I understand they have the right, it's just good to know. And they don't really tell you that they're actively inspecting your pictures... Yes, yes.... We should all read the TOS....
I think it would be nice if it was more common knowledge considering that autoupload is on by default.

Oh well, I still like having unlimited cloud space 😃

I don't think there is an algorithm out there that would be able to distinguish between photos of a naked person or naked statue or a tree for that fact. it would require human eyes to see the difference,
and of the billion photos out there, and millions uploading every day, when do you think they ever get to your files?. Never !

Yeah, they said it's only an issue if it's shared. The one other thing they did say besides this is they do have an automated system to scan for child pornography as well.

Hm nothing happens as long as it is set to private... At least that's wat most users say.
A while ago had this same discussion so i tried running some tests on two old accounts. One was set as private and one as public and filled them with hardcore porn and other stuf like pirated software etc etc. But nothing happend. No ban no warning, nothing.
And its stil running.

No the algorithm looks at traffic and checks against blacklisted sites hitting your storage, or too much traffic if you try and host a volume download business from your personal account. Things like that.

actually there's an algorithm developed by MS (open sourced, I believe) that does this. They can do this by image recognition.

Edit: it's called PhotoDNA
