Will Cortana on Phone work without GPS/Location activated?

Will I be able to use Cortana on my Phone having Location activated?
Would be great to save Batterylife.
I know some features or APPs need it, by for things like setting a reminder or text sombody etc. it isn't really needed, or is it?

Nope, not gonna work. When you disable location services and launch Cortana, she immediately greets you with a screen telling you, that your location services are disabled and that she'll start her job once you enable them.
