I have a Nokia Lumia 635. When can I get the update so that I can download Cortana?

My wife has a Lumia windows phone the previous model to mine and she has received the windows update to download Cortana.

The denim update is done by Microsoft or your carrier and only they know when they realize an update. For evere phone model there is a separate release so that's why your wife has the update already and you not.
See attached Microsoft website to check if the update for your phone is already released. Be aware that this web site does not indicate when an update will be realized it only shows which are released.
