Yes... Soft Reset. Hold the Volume Down + Power buttons about 10 seconds until the phone vibrates and reboots with a cleared out RAM. Solves many a minor glitch and irritation.

Avoid battery pulls whenever possible as that runs a severe risk of hardware/software damage.
