Why is the top 1 cm of my touchscreen unresponsive, Lumia 620?

top 1 cm of my touchscreen unresponsive, lumia 620

as above, for some reason the very top of my touchscreen does not work. this means that when using the camera i cannot select options like the front facing camera(since updating to 8.1). also when on google i have to turn the phone on it's side to type another search. the rest of the screen works fine. is this a flaw in the design?

Sounds like the screen is failing.
I don't think a Soft Reset will help, but you could try a Hard Reset to see if it's a driver issue.
But could just be the screen is failing, thus if it's still within warranty, drop it to nearest Nokia/MS Care Point or get a replacement screen from a third-party...
