Is there any way to unlock my nokia 520 online/on my PC?

My phone works but the touchscreen is broken, and I want to transfer photos onto my computer. It's connected with a USB cable, and I've been trying to transfer photos with the windows phone app, but it's telling me I have to unlock my phone first. Surely there's a way of doing that without using the touchscreen?

Unfortunately, no. You'll need to fix the screen (or if the digitizer still works, try to remember the movements that would unlock it if you can't see the display).
You didn't by chance have your photos set to upload to onedrive? If you did, they should all be available there. If you didn't, and you had an SD card installed, you can remove that and read it from another phone.
If you had your pictures on the internal memory (can't be too many on a 520 then!), and not set to upload to onedrive, than your pretty much stuck

If it's password protected, the phone won't release the file system to a computer unless you unlock the phone.
