Why is my window phone apps not working on my mac book pro?

[Windows Central Question]

I have a nokia lumia 800 phone and want to transfer photos to my apple mac. Have downloaded the window phone app for mac. used the usb provided by phone. My phone says synchronisation is complete, my mac says, connect phone. Can anyone tell me how I can get my mac to recognise my phone?

I have the same issue with a lumia 735. Sometimes it works... most of the time it does not. Have not found a solution yet.
