why does my htc windows phone go to silent

My htc windows phone has started to go to silent mode on its own. No ringer, alerts... Sometimes when I turn it off, I have sound again... sometimes I don't. Can you help??

If the volume button is used to lower or turn it off altogether it automatically turns into silent mode.
As for the second issue I think you should try with a soft reset. It might help.
