Why isn't my Lumia 920 showing file explorer anymore (XP)?

Lumia 920 not showing file explorer anymore (XP)

I have had a Lumia 920 for 2 years now and have never had any problems with it showing up in file explorer in XP but yesterday it stopped working. It still seems to connect but just doesn't show up.

I can't upgrade from XP as this is my work PC and our new system isn't being installed for 2-3 months.

I have googled and tried every suggested solution but nothing has worked.

I have SP3 and Media Player 11 and I've upgraded the MTP drivers, I've also checked the lead and USB port and they're working fine for other devices.

I would be very grateful for any other suggestions.

It's difficult to give advice if you said you already did everything.
But what you could do is set your PC back to an earlier restorpoint. (a point where your phone still was recognized.) if something went wrong during the connecting and some files where corrupted the setting back could help.
