Why is my phone making a clicking noise or cracking noise?

Why is my phone making a clicking noise or cracking noise

Often when I either swipe through the first picture or put my phone to sleep it will make some kind of clicking noise I don't know what it is but if I turn ringer and notification sound off then it stops happening

Go to settings > ringtones+sounds > under "play a sound" you can enable/disable sounds for various events.
