Nokia Icon phone: lost all sound unless on speakerphone. Anyone know why?

I have had the phone since last October, and love it. It has worked well, and takes great pictures.

Today, the sound turned off. The phone will ring, and when I answer it, the other person can hear me, but I cannot hear them. If I put it on speaker phone, then I can hear them.

Also, there is no sound when I press any buttons, or on the apps.

This can be a soft or hardware problem.
1 Please first double check that you did not mute the notification sounds.
2 Do a soft reset.

3 Do a factory restore or use the Lumia software recovery tool. (data will be erased)
4 If the sound is still not back you have a hardware problem and should sent it for repair.
