why does my nokia lumia 520 keep reseting when i open apps/messages/contacts?

every time I try to access my messages or go onto my contacts, my phone simply resets itself and makes it impossible for me to access anything, I need help please.

Check if a soft reset will help.

If that does not help I would recommend a factory restore.
Or use the Lumia software recovery tool.
