Motion Data - How does it work ?

Can anybody explain how Motion Data works in WP 8.1 Cyan on Lumia 1520.2 ? And what is it for ? Examples of apps using it. Thanks.

Thanks to the reply. I tried to update using the link in the article, but the store says that This app is not available for your device. Is it not available to Lumia 1520 WP8.1 Cyan ?

Can you enable it in Settings > Motion Data? That's where it is on my 1520.3, official 8.1+Cyan.

The only App I have using it right now is Health and Fitness.
