How do I force links (eg from Facebook emails) to open in the app (eg Facebook) and not the browser?

When I receive emails such as from Facebook that contain web links, I click on the link and it opens the browser. I have an app for Facebook installed so would like to it use that instead. The same thing applies for YouTube links - I would like it to open the MyTube app. Can this be done? If so, how?
