Why won't my Lumia 530 just work?

lumia 530 will not work

recently bought a nokia Lumia 530, turned it on to check it worked and it was all fine. I had to wait until I cud exchange my sim until I could use it. Now I have a new sim I tried to turn on Lumia 530 and nothing happened, tried charging not even registering as charging. Tried hard reset no luck, tried Lumia recovery tool says device not compatible!! Any advice pls

Your battery is probably flat.
Put it on your charger for several hours (2 to 12 hours).
It may take so long because your battery is flat.
