What should my boss do about a cracked screen?

Cracked screen

Hi, my boss cracked the screen of his Surface (not sure if it's a pro2 or pro3, how do i find out?) and he DOESN'T have the Microsoft Complete Plan. I don't know when he bought the device, one or two months ago. Is it possible to still uy the plan and get them to fix the screen?

You can buy Complete for a Surface 45 days after the purchase, and it is only available for the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 3. You can find out the model by finding the serial number under PC Info in Settings and then registering at Microsoft Surface support | Surface help and how-to | Surface setup and troubleshooting

However, I'm not sure how it would work buying Complete on a device that was broken before you purchased it. I'm not sure if that would make a difference or not.
