Motion Data 2 - How does it work with Fitbit?

I note the new Motion Data 2 app says that the Fitbit app installed on my phone is working with it.

But that reads from my Fitbit Flex, right? Is it now reading from my phone as well? How does that co-ordinate? Will it count both at once? Do I have to switch the sensor core off if I have a Flex in use, and so lose the tracking?

This is confusing. Does anyone know what's going on?

Agree. I would like to know also. It is confusing and help page doesn't explain it.

As I understand motion data recording is on all the time now. "Motion sensor data will be collected and recorded irrespective of this setting." (we can only disable collecting places and routes).

This brings tow issues:
1. Privacy.
2. Battery.

I suspect battery use is negligible, but privacy concerns are a thing. I am surprised there's not more comment about this though, seeing as MS have been bundling a Flex with their phones recently.
