Why won't hands-free headphones work on my Nokia Lumia 530?

I recently bought a Nokia Lumia 530, and I had purchased a headset with it. I used it for one day successfully, but it hasn't worked since. Thinking it was just the headphones, I got another set, but they don't work on my phone either. I made sure they were in working condition. Why can't my phone recognize these headphones?

Try a Soft Reset. Hold the Volume Down + Power buttons until the phone vibrates and reboots (about ten seconds). This will clear out system memory. Then delete whatever pairing you had under Bluetooth and Soft Reset again.

Make a new Pairing.

Sorry Lynette... I don't know why I thought they were Bluetooth. Are they by any chance marked as iPhone or iOS compatible?

Those type don't play well with non-Apple phones. Soft Reset is still indicated to clear whatever is stuck in system memory regarding your headphones.
