Is the auto update feature on the Store a battery hog?

Been charging my Lumia every single day ever since I got the 8.1 update. It was not like this when I first got it. Now I am thinking of reasons on why all of the sudden my phone's battery life diminished. Could this be because of the auto update feature on the Store?

Not really.
It checks for updates daily, and if there's an update it'll install it and be done. Don't think it'll be a major battery hit.

I'm thinking some gremlins left over from the update procedure or maybe Cortana. (although her effect on my battery life is gone now.)
