Windows Central Question

Silly questions from a new WP user.

Hello, friend suggested to get lumia 635, so I got it. Feeling disappointed, I'll tell why.
Now it seems that this phone requires every-day internet connection, just to get all those apps and stuff which has to be updated, most of them are useless(for me) I couldn't find yet, how to delete them permanently.
Anyway... I found more problems. Where is sound recording ? (probably I'm just blind and can't find it)
How do I browse my SD card files, or anything I added to my phone memory from PC, without having USB connection to any device( just using my nokia)
I have more questions to ask, but I'll save them for later occasion.
Thanks.

? You need internet connection to set things up just the first time.
? There is nothing built in just for sound recording. You need an app.
? You can't exactly browse your SDcard by default. You also need app, a file manager kind of one. Files from Microsoft is solid.
? You can in fact remove most apps from the phone. The only app that is built-in is OneDrive. The rest is just core functionality for the OS.

Hello and welcome to Windows and Windows Central.

Yes, you need an internet connection in order for most apps to work. However, the main functionality of your phone (call and SMS) is not affected by having or not having an internet connection. This is true for all smart phones.

You can always uninstall apps that you don't find necessary (except native apps, such as Messaging, Calendar). To do this, swipe to the App List (to the Right) from your Start Screen, tap and hold any app until a context menu appears. You can then opt to "uninstall" the app, which will permanently remove the app from your phone. You can always re-install the app from the Store.

Sound recording can be done with the native OneNote app. However, you could also download other apps that allow you to record sounds. You may perform a search in the store, or click this link.

You may explore the files in your phone using the Microsoft Files app.

You may want to create a Windows Central account. We've got a lot of members here who can answer your questions and you will be able to track responses to your query easily, too.

Re: Silly questions from a new WP user.

Its a new phone and OS to you so its understandable you feel a little disappointment. Hang in there, with all new devices there is a learning curve. Once you learn the new phone I'm sure you'll like it and that disappointment will go away.l
