Why cant i download files i.e. pdf or others using internet explorer on my phone?

[Windows Central Question]

I haven't been able to download any files from internet explorer on my phone despite being able to on my surface or just using a different browser on my phone. Every time I try I get the following error "sorry, we can't download the file".

I'd rather not switch from IE but every time I need to download something I need to switch to a different Brower which is getting a bit irritating.

P.S. I do have the setting "allow sites to store files on my phone" on.

Did you try deleting IE history? That Could help solve the problem. Also, how about soft reset, did you check that too? Since you are able to download files with other browser (UC?) there should not be any other problem.. I think

Thanks for your reply. I did try both. The issue still persists unfortunately. Yes the other browser I used was UC, and that works just fine.

Just today I did this simple trick. When in IE , i got the message "we cannot download", I just copied the link and pasted the url in uc browser and there it was.. Easy. No need to open the whole series of webpages in another browser...

There's an important website I need to download files from, and it seems to not be viewable on anything but Edge (not UC or Opera Mini). Like Mohammed, I can't download files.
