How to always open folders maximized?

Hi everyone

Since a week ago I've got this issue where I open my folders and it does not open in maximized size. I cannot recall that I've changed any settings in my folders options. I am using Windows 8.1.

Any help please?

I know of two ways to achieve this..

1. right-click on the program icon that you want to be running maximized, select properties and if there is a "run:" option set it to maximize window..

2. open the program you want, drag the edges down to cover the screen (as if the program opened in a maximized state), then close the program using "alt+f4" and re-open it

**not sure if these apply in 8.1 tho
