Well first you should never have installed W10 on your main phone. That was just silly. There was always a possibility of this happening which is what people don't seem to understand. W10 is not an update. It's technical preview with all the problems that go with that.

It will depend on the game on whether you will lose your progress. Check to see if it has backup ability.

If you cannot back up (meaning you don't have wifi available) then you will lose your progress for sure.

Resetting wipes you phone clean. You can try updating to the latest W10 to see if that fixes things if not then a hard reset is your only choice. If that doesn't work then you'll need the recovery software.

Apps on SD card do not work after a hard reset so you'll need to reinstall them.
