Windows Central Question

I have a Nokia Lumia 730 DS with Windows 8.1 and all the latest software updates.
When I set alarm clock (eg to ring 08:00) and I switch off my mobile phone, it doesn't ring.
It rings only when the mobile phone is switched on.
I don't want to have my mobile phone switched on the whole night.

So how can I have the alarm clock to ring when my mobile phone is switched on?

No, there's no way. Your alarm will not work if your phone is turned off. However, it should work if your phone is on stand by mode (phone is running but the screen is turned off).

Why don't you want your phone to be switched on the whole night?

You may need to create a Windows Central account to respond to this thread.

BTW, the last question seems to be mis-typed... it means the opposite compared to the title of the thread.

Unlike Symbian powered Nokia devices, Windows Phone will not do this.

If you do not want your phone to ring at night and that is why it is off, use Quiet Hours.

If you are preserving charge and don't want the device plugged in 8 hours for fear of damaging the battery, relax. The new batteries have smart chips in them and it is fine to plug into mains all night.
