When Did the Free App Studio Registration Go Away ?

My wife's 29 month old 920 battery is dying fast. I used the software recovery to on my old 920 for a fresh install of Cyan and restored her backup to it.
We are on AT&T so there is little chance she will ever get Denim and I at least wanted to give her live tiles with developers preview. She doesn't want a new phone.
The free registration for app studio appears to be gone, I can't find it, so no preview for the phone.
No way am I putting WP10 on her phone. If something didn't work I would be dead meat.
Seeing that AT&T has only put out Denim for one of their eight phones the future does not look bright and we will probably never see WP10 from them.
So, when did the free app studio registration go away, I never saw anything about it and I see WP news almost every day.

Preview for Developers sounds like what you are looking for. I installed it last week after a rollback from 10 (which uses the insider's app).

Right, it is preview for developers. You have to have to register for an app studio account to use DP. I had never done that for her MS account. It is the free app studio registration that is no longer available. The page says "Content is Offline"
https://dev.windows.com/en-us/featured/devpreview

Without that you can't use developers preview unless you pony up $20 for an account.

The login for the Preview for Developers app does not have to be the same one used on the rest of the phone. My wife is not a developer but is running PfD, I logged in with my account.

That's odd. That's usually something temporarily displayed during a site deployment/upgrade. If they took it offline it should at least say that.

Didn't know that.
Thanks very much, probably solved my problem. Like you, I have an account and she does not.
