How do I clean up my hard drive?

Running a HP probook 6550b and i am running out of hard drive space. windows 7 installed need to free up space

There are many ways to do this. I personally prefer using a freeware called "CCleaner" - this can be easily found in the net. Once downloaded and installed, restart your PC into safemode and then run CCleaner. There are just a few setting options that you need to set so that the software won't take so much time in cleaning up your PC:

Set Secure File Deletion to "Simple Overwrite (1 pass)"
Uncheck: Wipe alternative data streams, Wipe cluster tips, Wipe Free space drives.

In the main page of the software, you can choose which files the software will permanently erase.

This software has managed to free up several GBs of data from my 1TB hard drive every month.
