Should I buy the 1520 and wait six months before I can upgrade? Or should I buy the 635?

Because of the current abysmal state of Windows Phone for AT&T, my only real option for getting a phone is either to buy one off of a third party site or get the 635. (No, I'm not going to get the 830.) I know the 635 is a solid device, but I really don't know if I want to use a budget phone for the next four or five months. However, if I pay the $240 for the 1520, then AT&T won't allow me to start a Next plan for another 6 months. No one knows when the flagships will release, but I imagine it will be sooner than six months.

I know it seems like I should just use the 635, but I have one remaining concern: I really, really want to try a phablet. When the new flagships release, I want to pick up the larger edition, but I would hate to spend a prodigious sum of cash and end up not liking the bigger screen. If I get the 1520, I will know for certain whether I want to pick up the new flagship phablet or not.

What would you recommend?

I would go 1520. Flagship specs and a phablet. It sounds like you're leaning in that direction already. If the 640XL was available now on AT&T, I would recommend that as an option. It is suppose to becoming to AT&T.

You just got the answer.
1520 is really good phone, never regret buying one.. One problem tho, when you get use to 6', everything else will be too small to you.

I was actually planning on getting the 640XL, but it's not looking like it will be releasing any time soon. Considering T-Mobile isn't releasing the 640 until July, I don't have much hope for AT&T.

Thank you for commenting! I think I will pick up the 1520.
