How to keep email app on nokia lumia 635 from automatically deleting older emails?

On my blackberry I had before the lumia, the email app would keep every email from when I activated the phone. My lumia 635, I've noticed, automatically discards emails from 5 days ago. Is there anyway to keep the app from doing that? I like to have all my emails readily available right on my phone instead of logging on from a pc to check older emails. I've looked under the email app settings and there's no option to adjust when emails are discarded. Thanks in advance!
