Why are my picture sizes too big when I take them?

my pictures are big in size when i take them and i want to reduce it..what do i do

What device are you referring to?

If you're using a Windows Phone, what camera app are you using?

In Lumia Camera, there's an option to take only a 5MP photo.

In other apps, such as ProShot, there are options to change the resolution and size of the output image.
