Can the burst mode icon be turned off or removed from the main photo screen of the Nokia lumina 928?

I don't think the 3 icons, camera, burst, & video were on my screen past year. Are they there now due to an update? Easy to hit the wrong one, and very annoying placement.

Sorry but the burst mode was always present (and can not be removed).
But a work around would be using the physical camera button.

you should be able to change this by going into:

1. settings
2. Photos and camera
3. default camera

you should be able to change this from lumia camera classic/microsoft camera to just "lumia camera". This should remove the burst mode. This also assumes you're phone has the latest update to denim...

The 928 does not have that.

You can switch to Microsoft camera, but that removes most controls and the buttons entirely. Although some toggles are present.

Lumia Camera was always like that I believe.

I think this person I thinking of Lumia Camera 5, which is currently not available to that model.

thanks for this. for some reason, i thought the 928 got lumia camera 5.0 with the denim update. or a version of it.
