Why is my nokia lumia 610 not connceting with zune?

Windows Central Question

I am trying to put music on my nokia lumia 610 but the Zune software on my laptop in not connecting with the phone. though it is charging as i connect it to the laptop. what can i do? the IMEI is 359313040826418
