how do you get a background picture with no tiles in the way?

When I choose a background picture parts of the picture gets cut off by the borders and logos of the tiles. is there a way to remove all of the tiles and still have a background picture? or just have transparent tiles but with no gaps in between them so that it is a clean picture?

There are lots of tile builder apps that allow you to build blank tiles... In Win 10 Mo the background appears in absence of tiles.
