What is wrong with my headphone jack? (Nokia Lumia 520)

Hi; there's a problem with my headphone jack.
I have a Nokia Lumia 520.
Whenever I plug in my headphones to the jack, the sound quality is very distorted.
It sounds like the sound you get from a pair of busted earbuds.
It only sounds normal if I apply force to the plug, but only for a little while.
I can confirm that it is not a problem with my headphones.

I had a few issues with the headphone jack on the Lumia 520 as well. Try a soft reset just to see if it sorts out any issues, and also try another music apps (Find My Music Too is a great one) to see if the bad sound quality is consistent.

How many little black bands are on the male plug on the headphones?

3 means it is iOS compatible and it will cause issues. 2 means it is the standard the rest of the world uses and your 520 should support it.
