Why won't Cortana play music correctly?

[Windows Central Question]

I can't get Cortana to play an artist, song, or album. She only searches bing. Sometimes she acts really strangely, responding to "Hey, Cortana, play Red Hot Chili Peppers" by opening the music app and playing a random John Melloncamp song as part of a random "rock" playlist, which reminds me, I need to delete that John Melloncamp album...

I can say "Hey, Cortana, play rock music," and she responds perfectly.

While Cortana does this quite nicely on WP 8.1, she isn't quite yet feature complete on Windows 10. There are a number of limitations still that are being worked on. It's coming in a future update.
