Windows 10 Mail app won't sync back to Gmail?

I've tried everything, but when deleting/reading mail on the Windows 10 Mail app, it won't affect the mail in my Gmail inbox in any way. Can it be fixed? Otherwise, I have no use for this app...

Had same problem.
Solution- check your firewall settings.
I use Bitdefender Total Security- for me was enough to turn off Block internet connection sharing.
But I think that letting Mail app through firewall is also an option.
