Desktop glitch? Loops between Windows 7 and Windows 10 versions.

I upgraded my Acer desktop computer to Windows 10 from Windows 7. After startup, the desktop keeps switching back and forth from the new tablet style desktop to the old Windows 7 desktop in a loop and the only thing I can access at that point is Task Manager to either restart or shut down. Sometimes after startup, the Windows 10 desktop works properly, but once I access any programs/apps, the desktop switching thing starts again. Is this a display adapter issue?
