Question installing windows 10 mobile on replacement device.

Hi all, Could anyone Please tell me the right direction I should follow. I now have a Lumia 928 Verizon running Windows 10 build 10166 and have not yet updated to the new build because of a replacement phone coming today. I just received the new replacement Lumia 928 Verizon fresh out of the box with 8.1 and want to start the process of updating to the new current build Windows phone 10. What path do I follow with the new device ? Start it up with 8.1 check for updates than go to store for insider app update to build 10166? Than the current build? Do I or should I do a hard reset after that? I'm planning on Not doing a restore and will start fresh if this is right? Thanks
