Why isn't my LifeCam 5000 working after the upgrade?

Windows Central Question

LifeCam 5000 not working after upgrade.

There is no WinX firmware version at Microsoft.com. Software and firmware downloads (Win 8.1) don't help. Is this an issue for others?

I upgraded my Acer (i7, 8ram) from Win7 two weeks ago. A lot seems clunky, but I've never been crazy about this desktop anyway. But my webcam always worked before.
