Windows Central Question

Apps don't work

Out of the blue, none of my apps work. I can click on them but nothing happens. This includes Nokia's own apps as well such as e-mail. The first apps on the list also have suddenly weird names such as @{Microsoft.MSBattery , @{Microsofy.MSCalendar and @{Microsoft.MSPodcast . I have tried turning the phone off and on again and rebooting with lock and voice down buttons pressed. I also tried charging my phone as was instructed on Window's website. Any ideas what to do? I'd rather try everything before restoring factory settings and losing everything.. Would be grateful for any help and ideas!

Re: Apps don't work

Sounds like your storage has become corrupted. If you aren't using a microSD card, then you've probably got a problem with a defective device would be my guess. Hopefully, you have a backup of your data. If you DO have a microSD card, then it could be a faulty (or possibly a fake) SD card causing data corruption.

This can be caused by a faulty storage controller, faulty memory (which writes bad data to the storage controller), or bad storage memory. At one time, I actually had to have a phone replaced because the controller that handled the read/write to the SD card was faulty. Turns out that particular SD card was okay, but the controller was bad. I've also had bad SD cards, and know the headaches they can cause. Too much experience in this area, I'm afraid.

If none of these issues seems to be the problem, then register for an account and return here and we'll try to assist you further.
