how do I turn my lumia 640 xl off it just keeps restarting

every time I press the off button my phone just restarts can I turn it off?

Are u holding down the power button or swiping down on the screen to power off. Swipe down to power off hold down power button to reset.

You hold the button down until the phone says "Slide down to restart"

That being said, I believe I have experienced this issue once or twice.

You could always pull the battery if it was a matter of life and death...

Also be aware if your phone is connected to a charger it can "not" be switched off. Or in other words it will restart if you switch it off in case it's connected to a charger.
