Windows 10 Upgrade - Computer Various Problems - Help!

I recently upgraded my desktop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 using the free online upgrade.

The upgrade itself worked fine but when the PC booted up the first time the Start Bar was unresponsive to both mouse and keyboard. When I mouse over the desktop icons they become pink and "blurred" for lack of a better description. The PC red light is flashing constantly and right clicking the desktop brings up a menu but selecting anything is unresponsive.

I switched off using the power button.

I switched on today to see if I could fix the problem but on startup all I got was a black screen with white mouse cursor. The cursor moves but that's it.

I switched off using the power button and started again.

This time the desktop loaded fine but still the Start Bar does not work and the PC red light is going constantly and noises like the computer is loading something. I brought up Task Manager and "Disk" is showing 95%.

Can anybody help?

Thanks

Hi Ven07, I just signed up to respond.

Thanks for your answer but how do I get to the refresh if I cannot access the Start Menu?

Thanks!
