Why is my display glitching?

My laptop has intel sandy bridge (intel 3000 graphics) and i get a display glitch every once in a while that can last anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds. It seems to have a correlation with moving the mouse as well? Never had the issue in windows 7. My Intel HD had issues... downloaded the driver direct from Intel and it addressed most of them. The Intel driver is newer than the one through Windows Update.

I updated the graphics driver directly from intel, it was a newer driver as you suggested. The problem has continued unfortunately and my screen is still glitching. Any other suggestions?

Also how do you change the thread back to unanswered since that didn't work?
