Windows 7 pro 64 bit. 21 updates currently installing upon shutdown. It's been stuck on upgrade 15 for 30 mins at least. What's going on?? Help!

15-30 is acceptable at times - some series of updates take hours in my experience. Just wait and let the update process finish - as long as you're connected to the Internet and connected to a stable power supply, your PC should be fine.

Thanks. It's still on update 15. I unplugged my external gaming hard drive in case that was slowing anything, but that didn't seem to help. The circle thing is still spinning so I know my screen isn't frozen so at least there's that...

Just as an update, after 2 hours of nothing, I turned off the PC and restarted to look at the update history. Turns out it was trying to install windows 10. So I hid that update and did everything else and everything seems to be back to normal. I'm doing the restart/chkdsk just to be sure.
