Why don't most of my 'official' DVD's not work in Windows 10?

Windows Central Question

I recently downloaded W10 (too quick)
When I put a DVD into my laptop, nothing happens. I have to start the DVD app in W10 first and then, sometimes, he picks it up and starts the film or series. But al lot of times he does not. Or - strangely - he only does the 'intro's 'and then comes with the announcement :
Error: dvd can't be decoded (This is a translation, I'm Dutch).
Before I was so stupid to download W10 so quick, I had W7...never a problem there with DVD's. They started automatically in WMP.
Anyone has a solution?
Thx!

Windows 10 does not include a DVD codec. This was to save cost, as they would have to pay for a license fee on every install of Windows 10 to the owners of the codec technology. If you had Windows Media Center, you can get a free copy of the $14.99 DVD Player Windows Store app.

(I don't know the process)

But you can also use the free VLC Player app.
