My Dell laptop continues to state Critical Error, Start Menu and Cortana aren't working. What do I do?

My Dell laptop continues to state Critical Error, Start Menu and Cortana aren't working.

It also says it will try to fix it the next time you sign in. I get the same message every time I reboot and log on.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Are you able to get into settings? If the Start menu isn't working, you can access settings from the Action Center (the notification button next to the clock in the systray lower right corner)

Make sure you get all the latest updates in Settings/Updates & Security/ Check for Updates then reboot. If you still get these same errors, you could try doing a system reset, also in Settings/Updates & Security/Recovery/Reset this PC.
