Is Verizon Update Killing Phones

I have a LG Lancet that got a notification to update last night. The update applied and the screen will not show anything. The backlight seems to come on but I get nothing else.
I moved my SIM over to my old HTC 8x so that I can use that until I figure out what is wrong w/ my Lancet and it apparently updated while I was sleeping. Not my HTC 8x is in a reboot loop.
Anybody else run into similar?

This has also happened to me. I still have not found a solution. I have been posting on the Microsoft forums, here and Twitter hoping to be led to something but still nothing. Anyone else?

Funny thing is that one of the support geniuses at Microsoft suggested a hard reset.

I know the 8X can be restored now using the Windows Device Recovery Tool...
