Facebook news feed not refreshing?

My wife and I both have Lumia Icon's running Windows Phone 8.1. Over the last few days we've noticed that the Facebook app doesn't seem to be running properly. The news feed doesn't update regulary and displays an error message "We can't refresh the News Feed right now. Try again in a few minutes"

I tried reinstalling the app but that didn't seem to help.

Regular Facebook or Facebook beta? I read the Beta got an update today...
Also... I read Amazon servers were having issues yesterday, perhaps that was the issue?
I just confirmed my Facebook news feed updated correctly on my 1020, running 8.1.

I am seeing this with the Facebook app. Just tried Facebook beta and see the same issue there. Does seem like it could be a backend issue since the app hasn't been updated in 4 months.

Have you tried shaking your device? I think the app is designed to refresh the feed when you shake it (although that might also be a setting). Also, I think you can get "Most Popular" and "Newest" feeds. Changing that might also fix the app if it's stuck. I honestly get frustrated with the feed stuff. even on their webpage it seems to not update like it should.
